Tour 6 days from Marrakech
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Pick-up upon arrival at Marrakech airport and transfer to the Riad in the Medina (old walled city). We will spend the night in Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech – Nkob
After breakfast, we will pick you up at 8 in the morning at your Riad where our adventure will begin. We will drive over the port of Tizi n’Tichka (2,260 m.), While enjoying the magnificent views of the mountains and Berber villages. On the way we will stop for drinks and fresh air. Visit Ait Benhaddou, a World Heritage Site, one of the most spectacular ksours (fortified villages) in Morocco that was once on the route of the Transaharian caravans while crossing the Atlas towards the fondouks of Marrakech. (This famous Kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 movies). We will pass through the modern administrative city of Ouarzazate and continue towards the Draa Valley and its palm grove and its authentic Kasbah of the s. XVII, the valley of a thousand Kasbahs, reaching the small town of Ankon. Dinner and accommodation in a charming traditional Auberge (inn in the desert).
Day 3: Merzouga desert
The meeting point with the camel guides and the camels leads mainly through El Hamada (stony black desert). Each participant, with an assigned camel, begins in the Méharée. Mountain chains on the left and on the right, stone deserts, sandy rivers, green tamarisks and acacias mark the image on the way to the camp in the small dunes. Dinner and overnight at the El Méharée store. The chains of hills limit the horizon. The bed of the Oued or dry river is impregnated with tamarisks and acacias. Small wandering ditches push through the bushes. Dinner and accommodation in a store. After breakfast and from the great plain, we will reach the desert city of Tafraout. After a two-hour ascent, you will have a wonderful view of the desert landscape. Descent to the camp near the dunes, which cross a small valley and a large rocky plain that flows into Oued Rheris. In Oued Rheris, there are several nomadic families who spend the winter with their camels and goats. We will make small hiking trails through the riverbed and then return to the dune camp. Alternatively, through the desert of sand and stone you will walk towards the dunes of Oussina, almost orange, depending on the light. Dinner and overnight at the camp. Our Méharée continues along desert landscapes, Hamadas, small sand dunes and calm. Just a few kilometers after crossing the Ziz River, which is almost dry, the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi appear, the beautiful expanse of undulating dunes, also known as the Merzouga Dunes. Here our trip will end at the edge of the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
We leave the desert, say goodbye to your caravan team and start your return to Marrakech. Through Rissani and the Todra Gorges, you will travel through the 1000 Kasbahs route to the Todra Gorges, fascinating rock formations, eroded rocky cliffs, beautiful oases and cultivated villages and fields. And they always impress the rich colors of the earth, the green tones in the fields and the red walls of the residential castles. Dinner and accommodation in a charming hotel in the Gorges of Dades.
Day 5: Gorges of the Dades – Valley of the Roses – Telouet – Marrakech
Today, after breakfast, we will drive along Kelaa Mgouna (Valley of the Roses) where highly scented roses bloom in the hedges during April and May, at which time to buy a bouquet of roses. Then we will continue to Ouarzazate, known for its movie studios, which host many international film productions and is also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” We follow the route along the Ounila Valley and only 40 km from the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we will see the Kasbah of Telouet, an ancient route of the Sahara caravans over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. It was the seat of power of the El Glaoui family, King Moulay Hassan gave them the political power of Morocco south of the High Atlas Mountains. The Glaoui were almost as powerful as the Sultan himself. You can still visit the palace, but it is increasingly damaged and slowly collapsing. In 2010, work was being done to restore the property. If you have the opportunity on Thursday, visit a traditional souk in the Atlas village. Food in the Atlas Mountains. We cross the Tizi-n-Tichka once more to reach Marrakech late in the afternoon / early evening. We will spend the night in a Riad in the Medina.
Day 6: Departure from Marrakech
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech airport and departure. End of our services.
